How AI assistants decide which coffee to recommend

When someone asks ChatGPT for a coffee recommendation, a specific set of signals decides whether your roastery is named. Here is what those signals are.

Why AI answers differ from search results

A search engine returns a list and lets the reader choose. An assistant returns one answer and the choosing has already happened. That single difference reshapes what it means to be discoverable: you are no longer competing for a click, you are competing to be the sentence.

The three signals that decide inclusion

Across the answers we measure, three things repeatedly separate brands that get named from brands that do not: unambiguous descriptions, corroboration across independent sources, and content structured so a model can lift a claim without guessing.

The first is the one most brands get wrong. Product copy written to sound appealing often fails to state the plain facts a model needs — origin, process, roast level, what it actually tastes like.

What to change first

Start with the pages you already have. Rewrite the descriptions so every concrete attribute is stated once, in plain language, in the text itself rather than implied by a photograph or a spec table image.
